Government Degree College Ani at Haripur

Government Degree College Ani is a rural institution located in the picturesque surroundings of Haripur, approximately seven kilometers from Ani, the tehsil headquarters of the region, in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The area is widely known as Outer Seraj. The college was established on June 17, 2006, as a result of sustained efforts by the local community under the leadership of the late octogenarian social worker, Mr. Hari Ram.

The college is a co-educational institution affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. It initially introduced the Arts stream in the academic session 2006–07, followed by the Commerce stream in 2014–15 and the Science stream in 2016–17. Student enrollment has steadily increased over the years, attributable to the institution’s sound infrastructure, high standards of teaching, and a supportive environment that promotes holistic development.

The college is equipped with modern infrastructure and comprehensive sports facilities, including a well-equipped gymnasium, boxing ring, kabaddi mat, and specialized mats for high jump, pole vault, and judo, along with badminton and table tennis facilities. The campus features spacious classrooms, well-maintained laboratories, multiple smart classrooms for technology-enabled teaching, a computer laboratory, and a conference hall equipped with a digital podium. It also houses a language laboratory equipped with ORELL software to support language learning, as well as a library with an extensive collection of print books and an e-library. The campus includes a well-maintained green playground, fostering an environment conducive to both academic and physical development.

Government Degree College Ani is still in its infancy; nevertheless, it has made significant strides in academics, cultural activities, and sports within a short span of time. During the academic session 2025–26, the college achieved notable distinctions in the Himachal Pradesh University Inter-College Competitions. In the Inter-College Youth Festival (Group II), the institution secured third position in the Classical Group Song category. Additionally, it attained third position in the One Act Play competition at the Inter-College Youth Festival (Group IV), first position in Folk Orchestra (Group II), and third position in Folk Dance (Group III), reflecting its commendable performance across diverse cultural events.
